1. Sign Up / Login

You can access Layerbet in two ways:
  • Connect a Crypto Wallet: Click “Connect Wallet” and choose from popular options like MetaMask, Rabby, WalletConnect, or Coinbase Wallet. This is the recommended method for full control and security.
  • Web2 Login (Email/Social): If you don’t have a wallet, you can sign up using your email or social account. This creates a secure, non-custodial wallet for you behind the scenes.

2. Select your preferred network

Layerbet operates on three major blockchains, each with its own betting currency:
  • Base: Use ETH (Ethereum) on the Base network.
  • Gnosis: Use XDAI on the Gnosis network. This currency is 1:1 backed to the US Dollar.
  • Polygon: Use USDT (Tether) on the Polygon network. This currency is 1:1 backed to the US Dollar.

3. Preparing for Your First Bet

Get the Right Network

When you’re logged in, you can select the network that you’d like to use in the top right dropdown menu.

Gas Fees

Every bet is a blockchain transaction and requires a small amount of the network’s native token for gas:
  • Base: ETH
  • Gnosis: xDAI
  • Polygon: POL
Make sure you have a little extra ETH, xDAI, or POL in your wallet to cover gas fees.

Wrapping Your Currency

Bets must be placed with the wrapped version of the currency:
  • Base: wETH (wrapped ETH)
  • Gnosis: wxDAI (wrapped xDAI)
  • Polygon: USDT (no wrapping needed, but must be the correct token type)

Placing a Bet

  1. Browse Sports & Events: Explore available sports, leagues, and matches.
  2. Select a Market: Click on the odds for the outcome you want to bet on (e.g., Team A to win).
  3. Enter Your Stake: Type in the amount you want to bet (using your wrapped token).
  4. Confirm Bet: Review your bet slip and click “Place Bet.” Approve the transaction in your wallet.
  5. Track Your Bets: You can view all your open and settled bets in the “My Bets” or “Profile” section.

5. Cashing Out or Redeeming Winnings

  • Cash Out (if available): Some bets offer a “Cash Out” option before the event ends. If available, you’ll see a “Cash Out” button next to your bet. Confirm the transaction in your wallet to Cash Out.
  • Redeem Winning Bets: After the event settles, winning bets can be redeemed for your payout. Go to “My Bets” or “Profile,” find your winning bet, and and redeem. Confirm the transaction in your wallet to receive your winnings.

Tips

  • Always double-check you’re on the correct network and using the right token.
  • Keep a small balance of the network’s native token for gas.
  • Never bet money you can’t afford to lose.
