Slippage refers to the difference between the expected odds or payout when placing a bet and the actual odds or payout at the moment the bet is executed on-chain. This difference can occur due to:
  • Rapid changes in odds caused by new bets or market activity.
  • Network delays between submitting and confirming a transaction.
To protect users from unexpected outcomes, Layerbet allows you to set a maximum slippage tolerance. If the odds move beyond your specified slippage percentage before your bet is confirmed, the transaction will fail and your funds will not be wagered.

Adjusting Slippage in the Layerbet Front-End

  • You can adjust your slippage tolerance directly in the betslip interface. Make sure there is at least one bet selected on your betslip.
  • Look for the “⚙️” button, typically found at the top right of the betslip.
  • Click the slippage setting to open a menu where you can select or enter your preferred slippage percentage (e.g., 1%, 2%, 5%).
  • The selected value will be applied to all subsequent bets until you change it again.
A lower slippage percentage offers more protection against odds changes but may cause more failed transactions if the market is volatile. A higher percentage increases the chance your bet is accepted but may result in less favorable odds.
